Hi I'm Blanca Salas. I am a Sophomore at the University of California, Los Angeles.
I was born and raised in San Diego, California. I come from a family of four, my parents and an older sister. I am Mexican-American; therefore, I am fluent in Spanish and English. I have always wanted to speak another tongue besides my native ones. A couple of summers ago, I decided to partake in a Portuguese Language Immersion Camp at San Diego State University. This past summer, I studied abroad in Rome, Italy, with CIEE. During my time abroad, I immersed myself in this beautiful culture and learned a new language. I am currently still taking Italian classes at UCLA. I've wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. During my junior year of high school, I interned at High Tech Elementary (HTe) as a teacher's assistant, making me want to become a teacher even more. Children can have strong personalities but are very sweet and bright. I am currently working towards my bachelor's at UCLA in Education and Social Transformation,
During my free time, I enjoy playing soccer, listening to music, watching movies/ tv shows, and spending time with family and friends. I also continue to practice my Spanish and learn Portuguese and Italian. Although I am a native Spanish speaker, I always enjoy practicing my Spanish skills by reading and writing in my native tongue. Juggling and learning these three romance languages can sometimes get challenging and confusing; however, I always enjoy comparing them to see their similiaries and differences.
